Tyrrell’s

Tyrrell’s Wines: A Pillar of Hunter Valley Winemaking

Established in 1858 by Edward Tyrrell, Tyrrell’s Wines stands as one of Australia’s most esteemed family-owned wineries, with over 160 years of winemaking heritage in the Hunter Valley. The estate, located at 1838 Broke Road, Pokolbin, remains under the stewardship of the Tyrrell family, now in its fifth generation.

A Legacy of Innovation and Excellence

Throughout its history, Tyrrell’s has been at the forefront of Australian winemaking. Notably, in 1971, the winery released Australia’s first commercial Chardonnay, the Vat 47, marking a significant milestone in the country’s wine industry. Today, Tyrrell’s continues to produce some of Australia’s most celebrated wines, including the iconic Vat 1 Semillon, which has garnered numerous accolades over the years.

Diverse and Acclaimed Wine Portfolio

Tyrrell’s offers a diverse range of wines that showcase the unique terroir of the Hunter Valley. Their portfolio includes:

  • Semillon: Renowned for its crisp acidity and ability to age gracefully, developing complex flavours over time.
  • Shiraz: Exhibiting rich, earthy characteristics with a distinctive Hunter Valley elegance.
  • Chardonnay: Pioneering in style, offering a balance of fruit intensity and refined oak integration.

These wines reflect Tyrrell’s commitment to quality and their deep connection to the Hunter Valley’s winemaking traditions.
