Established in April 1995 by Peter Curtis and Rosalia Lambert, the Hunter Valley Cheese Company is a boutique cheese factory located at 447 McDonalds Road, Pokolbin, in the heart of New South Wales’ renowned Hunter Valley. This family-owned business has been dedicated to the art of small-batch, handcrafted cheesemaking for over three decades, offering visitors an authentic and immersive dairy experience. 

Artisanal Cheese Production

Specialising in a diverse range of cow and goat milk cheeses, the Hunter Valley Cheese Company produces varieties such as Fromage Blanc, Fetta, Brie, Washed Rind, Natural Rind, Cheddar, and Blue Vein. Each cheese is meticulously crafted on-site, with viewing windows allowing guests to observe the cheesemaking process in both the ‘Make Room’ and ‘Maturation Room’. Notably, production days occur on Wednesdays, providing an opportunity to witness the artisans at work. 

Tasting Experiences and Workshops

Open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, the cheese factory offers comprehensive tasting experiences that include a selection of at least five cheeses, accompanied by fruit paste, bread crackers, and table water. For those eager to delve deeper into the world of cheese, the company conducts workshops and cheesemaking classes, catering to both novices and enthusiasts. These sessions provide hands-on learning, enriching participants’ appreciation for the craft. 

Culinary Delights and Retail Offerings

Beyond cheese, the on-site retail shop features an array of house-made chutneys, relishes, and jams, all designed to complement their cheese selection.
